TOOLS TO HELP YOU MANAGE THE FINANCIAL SIDE OF YOUR REMODEL
Contractor Quote Review
Get a second set of eyes on your contractor quote. Clarify what is — and isn’t — included, identify useful follow-up questions to ask before moving forward, and, if you have multiple quotes, organize them for side-by-side comparison.
TOOLS TO HELP YOU MANAGE
Remodel Budget & Cash Flow Planner
Develop a realistic project budget, allow for contingencies and other anticipated costs, and stress-test how much cash you may need — and when. Start with a sample project timeline, then update the timing assumptions based on the schedule and payment expectations provided by your contractor.
Remodel Cost Tracker
Track actual payments and spending against your budget as the project progresses.
RESOURCES TAILORED TO YOUR REMODEL
After your complimentary consultation, we’ll send you resources selected based on where you are in the remodeling process and the issues most relevant to your project. These may include a Remodel Roadmap, answers and information related to questions that came up during our conversation, and customer-recommended vendors and professionals who may be relevant to your project.
DECIDING WHETHER TO REMODEL OR MOVE?
Our complimentary Remodel vs. Move Analysis helps homeowners organize the financial and practical considerations involved in remodeling their current home versus selling and buying another.
Why Guided Remodeling
Guided Remodeling grew out of a simple idea: homeowners shouldn’t have to learn every remodeling lesson the hard — and often expensive — way.
Most people who remodel encounter many of the same challenges: understanding costs, evaluating contractor proposals, managing budgets, making hundreds of decisions and figuring out what questions they should be asking in the first place.
Guided was created to help homeowners benefit from the experience of people who have already been through the process by providing practical tools, useful resources and lessons learned from real remodeling experience.
GUIDED REMODELING
ABOUT DAVID
David Gunning grew up around remodeling. His father was an architect, and beginning at age six David helped as his family remodeled three homes in San Francisco.
After attending Santa Clara University, David spent more than three decades in the mortgage business helping homebuyers navigate major financial decisions. During that time, he also became an active real estate investor and ultimately a real estate fund manager and developer.
Most recently, David undertook an extensive foundation-to-roof remodel of his own San Francisco home. Guided Remodeling grew from his desire to make the lessons and experience accumulated throughout that process — and throughout his career in real estate — useful to other homeowners.
Most homeowners who remodel encounter many of the same challenges. We shouldn’t each have to start from scratch. Guided is about demystifying the home remodeling process and paying it forward by sharing lessons learned with those about to embark on the remodeling journey
THE REMODEL THAT INSPIRED GUIDED
San Francisco Marina Residence
This foundation-to-roof remodel of David’s own San Francisco home was one of the experiences that inspired Guided Remodeling. Managing the process firsthand reinforced how difficult it can be for homeowners to understand costs, evaluate options, anticipate what comes next and know what questions to ask along the way.
